 EASY RED POHA(AVAL) UPMA

Poha or flattened rice is wholesome food. Basically, Poha is rice that is flattened after parboiled. Since it is partly cooked already it can be consumed with the minimum cooking time or even can eat without cooking it too. Poha or Aval is named as a wholesome food because it consists of excellent nutritional elements. It contains all the necessary elements in it like iron, carbohydrates, a good source of antioxidants, and rich in fiber.

Since poha is easy to digest it's suitable for everyone. And you can have Poha breakfast, dinner, or even a simple snack in the evening. All you have to do is to adjust the proteins here and there, by adding some peanuts or potatoes to make it even more healthy and absolutely tasty as well. Personally, I love to eat raw  Poha it's tasty for sure and I love the chewy texture when you eat it raw. It's kind of addictive once I start to eat I can only stop eating until my jaws hurt😉😋.

When I was a kid whenever my mom is not at home. If I or my brother ask for a snack the first option my dad will give us is the Sweet Poha. More than us my dad loves it to the core. We enjoyed the way my dad prepare it for us than the actual taste of it. With full of enthusiasm and excitement, he used to prepare it for us. And the highlight of that sweet poha was the small jaggery pieces then and there we get while eating and the bowl will be always the coconut shell. It was an awesome memory to recall😍. And it made me think," Am I creating any such memories for my kids?".

When I first start preparing this aval upma at home, my son showed a lot of interest in tasting it. But he ended up eating only the peanuts.  Even though the poha upma was soft it's definitely dry for him. So he was not able to enjoy it thoroughly. Then my husband told me about adding potatoes to it. I have given it a try and that really made the difference. Potatoes made it easy to swallow, especially when you serve this to kids. Now we used to enjoy this Poha umpa as our evening snacks with our little ones. So I guess you might also try it. And it's time for the recipe, let's check out the ingredients.
